By Scott Nelles:
"Recently I was abducted by a group of aliens. As we traveled the cosmos, they made me a deal I could not refuse. Knowing my talents, they gave me exclusive rights to manufacture and distribute copies of their ray gun designs for the entire planet. Each ray gun is an authentic reproduction of the ray guns given to me by my new intergalactic friends. Due to mundane earthly rules, the guns are not loaded with the cosmic energy waves required for their destructive power. Each gun comes with a working spring trigger, display prop, and a copy of the newspaper article outlining the story of my abduction. After all if it's in print it's got to be true!"
Scott Nelles (pronounced nell-ess) has worked in cast bronze for over three decades. His work displays a childlike playfulness, elegant design and superb control of his medium. In his foundry and studio located in northern Michigan, he designs and creates everything from decorative art to toys. Using the timeless methods of sand-casting and hand-finishing, Nelles creates objects of beauty, strength and whimsy.Much of the inspiration for his work actually comes from the process in which he makes it. Cast metal toy cars, boats, and airplanes take him back to his childhood in Detroit, where his father, a manufacturer’s representative, would take Scott on factory tours. The dramatic sight and heat of molten metal became a part of his soul, and the excitement of the foundry process has never left him.
